Biofactor Partners With University Of Hyderabad To Develop Nanotechnology Solutions For Sustainable Farming

Hyderabad: Biofactor, a prominent agricultural biotechnology company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Hyderabad (UoH) to develop nanotechnology-driven solutions for sustainable agriculture. The MoU was signed by Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar of UoH, and Dr. Laxmi Narayana Reddy, CEO of Biofactor, with key figures from both institutions present, including Prof. B.J. Rao, Vice Chancellor of UoH, and Prof. Samrat Sabat, Director of R&D at UoH.

The collaboration will focus on several key areas, including the development of novel nanoparticles with applications across various sectors. Research will also address toxicity testing of nanoparticles, ensuring environmental safety and compatibility. The partnership aims to provide specialized training for scientists and technical staff on nanoparticle synthesis, toxicity evaluation, and their agricultural applications.

Other areas of collaboration include internship opportunities for UoH students at Biofactor, with projects related to the application of nanotechnology in agriculture, poultry, and fishery. The institutions will also work together to identify and deliver demand-driven, sustainable programs to support the agricultural sector.

This partnership seeks to improve crop productivity through precision nutrient delivery, eco-friendly nanopesticides, and reduced chemical dependency. The focus will be on biofortification and innovative nano-enabled inputs to provide cost-effective, high-yield solutions for farmers.

Dr. Dibakar Das from UoH stated, “This partnership bridges cutting-edge material science with real-world agricultural needs,” while Dr. L.N. Reddy of Biofactor added, “Leveraging nanotechnology, we aim to empower farmers and enhance global food security.”

Biofactor has previously collaborated with institutions such as CIRCOT Mumbai, ANGRAU Guntur, IIAR Bangalore, and IIOR Hyderabad. This MoU strengthens its commitment to advancing agri-nanotechnology for a sustainable future.
