RGIA police nab serial bike thief, recover four stolen motorcycles

HYDERABAD: The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police arrested a habitual offender allegedly involved in a series of inter-state motorcycle theft cases and recovered four stolen motorcycles worth about ₹8 lakh.

The accused was identified as Vishwakarma Mohan Kumar alias Undekode Mohan, 32, a resident of Bhagiratha Colony in Mahabubnagar district. Police said he originally hails from RTC Colony in Narayanpet district.

Acting on specific information, police apprehended the accused on June 4 and seized four motorcycles allegedly stolen from different police station limits in Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

The recovered vehicles include a Royal Enfield motorcycle stolen from the limits of a police station in Raichur, Karnataka; a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle stolen from Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh; a Royal Enfield Hunter 350 stolen from RGIA police station limits; and another Royal Enfield Hunter 350 stolen from Adoni police station limits in Andhra Pradesh.

Police said the accused is suspected to have been involved in multiple vehicle theft cases registered in the limits of RGIA, Raichur, Kurnool and Adoni police stations.

The accused was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain his involvement in other vehicle theft cases.
