How Bhumika’s ‘ANAGANAGA…’ filling the storytelling void for Gen Z for free

HYDERABAD: While screens and gadgets fill Gen Z generation, the Bhumika Theatre Group offers live wonder and creativity for children. “Hey, come and relive your wildest dreams with us!” is their saying. In July 2025, the group celebrated 100 weeks of their beloved storytelling journey, ‘ANAGANAGA…’. Now, as the 111th week approaches this Sunday, more than 3,300 eager participants have already been swept up in the magic.
For the past two years, Bhumika has invited children every Sunday at 10 am to ‘Our Sacred Space’. Here, they can take a break from screens and enjoy live, interactive theatre at “ANAGANAGA…”. Laughter never stops, age is just a number, and your inner child is always welcome. The program started to bring something new and exciting to local youth culture.
Speaking to HyderabadMail, Udaykiran Garikapati said, “In a world that often asks us to grow up too fast, ‘ANAGANAGA…’ serves as a vibrant reminder of the joy of wonder. The event is billed as more than just a performance; it’s a magic spell that brings imagination to life, a time machine to the best parts of childhood, and adventure. This storytelling, combined with theatre skills, engages the children more. Stories from Panchathara, as well as English and Japanese tales, were translated into Telugu and told to them.
You might be wondering, “Why storytelling?” the group’s announcement reads. “Well, my friends, it’s like a magic spell that brings your imagination to life! It’s a time machine that takes you back to the best parts of your childhood. It’s a journey that both kids and grown-ups who never forgot how to have FUN can enjoy together.”
Free weekly event inspires children
And the best part? It won’t cost you a single penny! Yep, that’s right, this adventure is on the house, added the announcement.
“Until now, our grandmothers and great-grandmothers used to tell stories,” a representative from the troupe noted. “But today, many grandmothers may not know as many stories, or even if they do, they often lack the leisure, patience, or time. ‘ANAGANAGA…’ steps in to become that cherished storyteller for the new generation.”
Bhumika Theatre Group celebrates 111 weeks of its beloved storytelling series ‘Anaganaga’ at Our Sacred Space, HyderabadThe message is simple: bring your friends, family, and anyone who loves to laugh,” the invitation urges. “Prepare for a fantastic adventure. See you there, adventurers!” read the announcement. “ANAGANAGA…” is set to be the community’s next big celebration, where everyone can share in the fun and creativity.
The performers, celebrated as ‘super-talented stars,’ are ready to unleash stories that spark laughter and are not just fun; they’re side-splitting, mind-boggling, and packed with surprises that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. The event promises a whirlwind of fun where laughter echoes, age fades, and every inner child is joyfully embraced, as described in the BookMyShow app.
The group’s goal is to help children explore a world of imagination and creativity. Parents and participants say the program does more than entertain, and it helps reduce screen time, encourages creativity, improves focus, and makes learning fun.
Bhumika Theatre Group isn’t only for kids. It’s a movement to celebrate live theatre in our community. The group supports actors and shares stories with people of all ages.
Looking forward, the group plans to start a children’s theatre club, giving young performers new opportunities. They also hope to bring ‘ANAGANAGA…’ to private events and schools, reaching and inspiring even more children.
