BhuBharathi land registration scam surfaces in Jangaon

HYDERABAD: A major financial scam involving BhuBharathi, the official Integrated Land Records Management System (ILRMS) of the Telangana State Government, has been uncovered in Jangaon district. The case centres on the suspected diversion of government revenue from land registrations and has led to criminal charges.
The case, registered at Jangaon Police Station, stems from a complaint filed by Indrapally Hussain (43), the Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) of Jangaon.
Initial investigations have pegged the government’s loss at Rs 8,55,577. The complaint paints a picture of a meticulously planned financial fraud that dealt a heavy blow to the government of Telangana.
According to official documents, the fraud was detected during an office-level verification mandated under the state’s recent Bhubaarathi Act. The investigation revealed a two-pronged illicit scheme concerning land registration transactions executed on December 24, 2025:
Underpayment to the Treasury, although the full stamp duty and registration fees were collected from landowners, only a small portion was deposited into the Government Treasury. “The accused allegedly used electronic devices to alter official payment challan receipts, creating forged documents that falsely indicated full payment to the government. This misrepresentation enabled the diversion of funds,” said the complaint in his complaint copy.
“The challan payment receipts were digitally altered (modified) using electronic devices, and forged receipts were created to falsely show that the full challan amounts had been paid,” states the complaint filed by MRO Hussain.
The Jangaon police have booked a case under relevant sections of the under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and the Information Technology Act. Further investigation is underway.
