Bhongir school student dies after tree branch falls
YADADRI: A Class III student died and eight others were injured after a tree branch fell on students playing under a neem tree at Bhagayyath School in Bhongir on Thursday.
The students were playing kabaddi under the tree on the school premises in the morning when the branch suddenly broke and fell on them. Eight students sustained injuries in the incident.
Teachers shifted four seriously injured students to the district headquarters hospital and later to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bibinagar, for further treatment.
Alima, 8, died while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bibinagar. The other three seriously injured students are undergoing treatment.
Bharatiya Janata Party state executive member and former MP Dr Boora Narsaiah Goud demanded compensation for Alima’s family.
Government Whip and Alair MLA Beerla Ilaiah provided ₹10,000 to Alima’s family and ₹5,000 each to the families of the injured students.
Bhongir MLA Kumbham Anil Kumar Reddy, who learnt about the incident, assured the students’ families of all possible support.
