BHADRACHALAM: Devotees will offer goti talambralu for the celestial wedding of Ramulori during Sri Rama Navami celebrations at Bhadrachalam.

Every year for Sri Rama Navami, devotees and women’s groups bring tonnes of goti talambralu from East Godavari and Bapatla regions to the temple town. Devotees consider the offering an important service to the deity.

Traditional preparation with paddy grains

The goti talambralu are prepared from paddy grains with ritual devotion. Women remove the husk using their fingernails so that the rice grains remain intact and free of scratches.

They prepare the sacred grains while observing fasting vows and other rituals.

Used in Sita-Rama Kalyanam ceremony

Groups such as the Krishna Chaitanya Sangham of Korukonda in East Godavari district bring tonnes of the prepared rice to offer to Bhadrachalam temple every year.

Temple authorities use these goti talambralu during the celestial wedding of Sita and Rama. The grains hold special significance in the ceremony.

The sacred rice will be used for the kalyanam during Sri Rama Navami celebrations on March 27.
