Screw Driver Drill Bit Removed

BHADRACHALAM: Doctors at the Bhadrachalam Area Hospital successfully removed a 6cm screwdriver drill bit from the stomach of an eight-year-old boy after he accidentally swallowed it while playing.

Hospital staff said the boy, identified as Thummala Gautam from Alluri Sitarama Raju district in Andhra Pradesh, was rushed to the hospital after the incident. Doctors initially monitored him, expecting the object to pass naturally through defecation.

However, within hours the child developed vomiting and severe abdominal pain. Doctors then decided to perform surgery and retrieved the metal object.

“The operation was successful, and the boy is now out of danger,” hospital staff said.
