Two habitual offenders held in Begumpet; ₹40 lakh worth stolen property recovered

HYDERABAD: Begumpet police of Malkajgiri Commissionerate on February 21 arrested two habitual offenders and recovered stolen gold ornaments, mobile phones and cash worth about ₹40 lakh.
According to police, the arrest followed a burglary complaint lodged by M Anuradha, 60, a resident of SatyaKrishna Siri Sampada Apartments, Begumpet. She stated that she returned home on the morning of February 16 to find her house ransacked, the main gate broken and valuables missing.
The stolen property included 10 sets of gold earrings, four gold finger rings, six gold chains, other ornaments and ₹60,000 in cash. A case was registered under Sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Offenders traced through investigation
The Begumpet Crime Team, acting on leads, apprehended the two accused — Bisayi Pradeep, 25, of Prakash Nagar, Secunderabad, and Edla Praveen Kumar, 32, of Al-Hamra Colony, Shaikpet. Police said both were earlier involved in similar property offence cases.
During interrogation, police recovered 235 grams of gold ornaments, one OnePlus mobile phone, one Realme mobile phone, and ₹65,000 in cash, all valued at around ₹40 lakh.
Supervision and appeal to residents
The operation was supervised by Ch Sridhar, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri, along with ACP P Gopala Krishna Murthy, SHO P Saidulu and sub-inspectors K Sachdhanandham and Ch Sravan Kumar, with support from the CCS Cantonment Team.
Police urged residents to adopt basic safety measures such as locking doors properly, ensuring functional CCTV cameras, informing neighbours when leaving home for long durations, and reporting suspicious activity promptly.
