HYDERABAD:  Cyber fraudsters cheated a private employee from Begumpet of ₹3.7 lakh in the name of an online job.

Police said Mangalarao Sreekanth received a message on Telegram on April 8 offering an online job. He clicked the link, after which a woman identifying herself as Aarushi Malhotra contacted him.

She told him that investments in Sunstick India and crypto trading platforms would yield returns of 20% to 40%. Later, two others — Ashutosh Kumar and Kritika Ramakrishna  also contacted him and assigned small online tasks.

Initially, ₹4,265 was credited to Sreekanth’s account to gain his trust.

Fraudsters promise crypto profits, push repeated payments

The accused then asked him to invest larger amounts under “VIP tasks” and “twin missions”. Using links provided by them, Sreekanth transferred ₹3,82,626 in 15 transactions.

He received only ₹11,630 in return. Realising he had been cheated, he approached the cybercrime police station and lodged a complaint.
