HMDA invites bids for Banjara Hills corridor

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has invited tenders for the proposed elevated corridor linking Banjara Hills with Shilpa Layout in Gachibowli. Online bids will be accepted until September 22, after which work is expected to begin once the tender process is completed.
The proposed corridor is aimed at easing traffic congestion for commuters travelling between Banjara Hills and the IT corridor.
The project will link the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) on Banjara Hills Road No. 12 with the Shilpa Layout flyover near Gachibowli. The elevated corridor is planned over a total length of about nine km and is estimated to cost ₹1,656 crore.
The project will be implemented under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model.
The detailed project report divides the corridor into two phases. The first phase will cover five km from Filmnagar to Shilpa Layout, while the second will cover four km from the ICCC to Hakimpet Kunta.
Six ramps planned at key junctions
The corridor will have entry and exit ramps at six major traffic points to ensure smoother movement of vehicles. These include Filmnagar at Road No. 82, Narne Road, Jubilee Hills Road No. 52, ITC Kohenur Road, T-Hub junction and Mindspace.
The corridor has also been designed to accommodate a future Metro Rail extension along the route.
Once completed, the elevated link is expected to reduce delays for commuters travelling through Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills Checkpost and other congested stretches towards the IT corridor.
Signal-free link to Outer Ring Road
The corridor is also expected to serve as another radial route connecting the core city with the Outer Ring Road (ORR). It will provide direct, signal-free connectivity from Banjara Hills towards the ORR at Gachibowli.
The project is expected to reduce travel time and ease traffic pressure on the existing routes leading towards the IT corridor.
