Banjara Hills resident arrested for selling 9 kg of ganja; 7 consumers detained
Banjara Hills: The sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone, along with the Banjara Hills Police, arrested a man for possessing and selling an illegal narcotic substance, dry ganja. The operation also led to the apprehension of seven consumers who had purchased ganja from the peddler.
The accused, identified as Santhosh Kumar Rout, (25), a Swiggy delivery boy residing in Nandi Nagar, Road No. 14, Banjara Hills, was apprehended after a tip-off from a reliable source.
Santhosh Kumar Rout, a native of Samana village in Kendujhar district, Odisha, moved to Hyderabad in 2021. Initially working as a security guard and later as a delivery agent, he struggled to make ends meet due to low wages. In search of an alternative source of income, he came into contact with Govind, a known ganja peddler from Phulbani district, Odisha. Santhosh Kumar Rout purchased approximately 9 kilograms of ganja from Govind and transported it to Hyderabad by train.
Once in Banjara Hills, Santhosh Kumar began selling the ganja to local consumers, packing it into small sachets and distributing it for easy profits. Based on credible information, the Task Force and Banjara Hills Police conducted a raid, apprehending Santhosh and seven consumers who had purchased ganja from him.
The authorities seized the following items during the operation: 9 kilograms of dry ganja, one two-wheeler used by the peddler, two mobile phones, one weighing machine, and empty sachets used for packing.
The raid was carried out under the supervision of YVS Sudheendra, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad City, and led by Inspector E. Jangaiah. The operation was also supported by SI B. Aravind Goud and the West Zone Task Force team, along with Banjara Hills Police.
