Bandi Sanjay slams HCA over player selection irregularities

HYDERABAD: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has expressed strong displeasure over alleged irregularities in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s (HCA) junior and senior team selections.
He said several parents of talented cricketers from rural areas met him, alleging that their children were being denied opportunities. “They told me that players with no real skill are being selected, while money is being collected from them,” he said.
Action likely against selection committee members
Sanjay said action would soon be taken against the members of the selection committee. “I have already informed the Rachakonda Commissioner,” he said, adding that he would also lodge a complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
He alleged that the committee members had collected lakhs of rupees from aspirants. “Even players with good performance records were ignored. Parents of talented players poured out their grievances to me,” he added.
Minister promises probe into allegations
“The truth behind these irregularities will soon be revealed,” Sanjay said, promising a full inquiry into the matter.
