Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay on Thursday alleged that two to three ministers in the Telangana Cabinet had amassed illegal wealth running into thousands of crores by exploiting legal loopholes. He said intelligence agencies were compiling reports on these alleged irregularities and warned that all details would be made public soon.

BJP to step up fight against Congress corruption

Addressing an informal media interaction at the BJP state office in Hyderabad, Sanjay said the Bharatiya Janata Party would launch a sustained campaign against corruption and illegalities of the Congress government at an appropriate time. He claimed that similar reports on alleged irregularities during the previous K Chandrashekar Rao government were shared with the Congress after it came to power, but no action followed.

Questions on Kaleshwaram, phone tapping, GHMC polls

Raising the Kaleshwaram project issue, Sanjay questioned why the inquiry was limited to alleged irregularities of ₹9,000 crore when, according to him, the total scam was worth ₹1 lakh crore. He also asked why the Speaker had not responded despite MLA Danam Nagender stating that he remained in the Congress.

Sanjay termed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s assurance of ₹5 lakh per gram panchayat as “ridiculous” and demanded that the state provide at least ₹1 crore per panchayat. He said ₹3,500 crore would be released from the Centre for panchayats.

On the alleged phone-tapping case, Sanjay said it resembled a “television serial” and accused former senior police officer Prabhakar Rao of destroying many lives. He alleged the involvement of the K. Chandrashekar Rao family and said strict action would be taken if the BJP came to power.

Sanjay criticised the Chief Minister’s remarks against KCR, saying such language was unbecoming of the office. He alleged that, like the previous government, the present dispensation was not placing government orders in the public domain.

Referring to the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, Sanjay said the BJP would contest alone and capture the mayor’s post. If the Congress aligned with All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, he said, voters would “teach them a lesson”. He reiterated that a “Majlis-free Hyderabad” remained the BJP’s objective.
