Bandi Sanjay Accuses Congress of Ignoring Owaisi

Hyderabad: As the Hyderabad Disaster Management and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) intensifies its efforts to demolish illegal encroachments around lakes, ponds, full tank levels, and buffer zones, its actions have sparked a wave of political and public reactions. Several political leaders have accused HYDRAA of bias.

In a statement on his official account on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Minister of State for Home Affairs and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar criticised the Congress government, alleging that it is hesitant to act against illegal constructions by Owaisi on Salkam Cheruvu. “Is the Congress government scared of Owaisi? Why is he above the law? They are quick to demolish others’ properties, but when it comes to Owaisi or #TwitterTillu’s Janwada farmhouse, they go silent. This double standard needs to end, and action must be taken immediately,” Sanjay stated.

Former Minister and BRS Leader Harish Rao raised concerns about the fairness of HYDRAA’s operations and alleged, “The HYDRAA office is located under the Buddha Bhavan nala. The same rules should apply to everyone. If private and commercial shops on Necklace Road, which are within the purview of the Hussain Sagar FTL, are not being addressed, then why are some properties being demolished directly while others are only receiving notices and being given time?” Harish Rao said.

Mahabubnagar BJP MP DK Aruna accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of using HYDRAA for political gains ahead of the upcoming elections in four states. “HYDRAA’s actions seem to be driven by election-related motives. If there are illegal constructions, action should be taken as per the rules. However, if the previous government built houses for the poor, this government appears to be demolishing them with bulldozers,” Aruna said.

On the other hand, some members of the public have praised HYDRAA’s initiatives and its Commissioner, AV Ranganath, for leading the agency effectively. However, there is growing discontent among those affected by the demolitions, particularly those whose homes were built with prior permission. They are calling for accountability from the authorities who approved these constructions in the first place.
