Bandi Bhagirath Gets Three-Day Police Custody

HYDERABAD: A court in Medchal on Tuesday granted three days of police custody to Bandi Bhagirath in connection with a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case, allowing investigators to question him as part of the ongoing probe.
Police had approached the court seeking custody of Bhagirath, stating that further interrogation was necessary to gather details related to the allegations and to verify evidence collected during the investigation.
Court Allows Custodial Interrogation
After hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence, the Medchal court permitted police custody for three days. The order is expected to facilitate detailed questioning of the accused regarding the circumstances surrounding the case.
Investigating officers told the court that custodial interrogation was required to establish facts, examine evidence and complete crucial aspects of the investigation.
Accused Currently in Judicial Remand
Bandi Bhagirath was earlier arrested in the POCSO case and is currently lodged in jail as a remand prisoner. Following the court’s order, police are expected to take him into custody and begin questioning him from Wednesday morning.
Officials are likely to focus on collecting additional information and corroborating evidence during the three-day custodial period. Further legal proceedings will depend on the outcome of the investigation and the evidence gathered by the police.
