Mandi owners in Balapur arrested for operating restaurants past 1 am
Hyderabad: Balapur police arrested the owners of mandi restaurants under its jurisdiction for keeping their establishments open beyond the stipulated deadline of 1 am.
Mandi restaurants in the Barkas area are quite popular among the youth. These eateries serve their favorite food even after midnight. These restaurants’ ambience and seating arrangement are perfect for people with late-night cravings.
The police counselled the customers against staying up late and dining after midnight. The police said the late-night movement of common people makes their job of catching thieves and troublemakers difficult.
After a furore over police crackdowns on establishments and people’s movement on roads after 11 p.m., the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government issued a memo allowing all eateries, including hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and ice cream parlours, to remain open until 1 a.m. every night.
The internal memo was issued to the city police from the Office of Commissioner of Police directing them to implement it in all the three Commissionerates in Hyderabad. The government order permitted all shops and establishments other than eateries to remain open from 9 am to 11 in GHMC limits.
