Balapur Ganesh hundi collection rises to ₹28.1 lakh
Hyderabad : The Balapur Ganesh hundi collection rose to ₹28,11,999 this year, nearly ₹5 lakh more than the previous year, Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi president Kallem Niranjan Reddy said.
The collection has once again drawn attention alongside the famous Balapur Ganesh laddu auction. The laddu fetched ₹39 lakh this year, ₹4 lakh more than last year’s ₹35 lakh.
Last year, the hundi collection stood at ₹23,13,760. This year’s collection was therefore about ₹5 lakh higher, while the increase in the hundi collection was about ₹1 lakh more than the rise in the laddu price.
Foreign currencies among offerings
Reddy said devotees also deposited foreign currencies in the hundi this year. Currencies from Sri Lanka, Zambia, Russia, Malaysia and Europe were among those received, he said.
Reddy said several foreign devotees visited the Balapur Ganesh this year and some of them may have offered their currencies in the hundi.
