Bakka Judson Protests Govt Buildings in Buffer Zone Violation

Hyderabad: Occupants of structures built on the riverbed of Musi RIver are very well aware of the red markings RB-X on their houses. According to an official, RB stands for river bed while X indicates the marking of the house.

Turning the tables on the Revanth Reddy government, expelled Congress leader Bakka Judson has claimed that the Telangana Secretariat also known as Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat and Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) were built in violation of buffer zone norms.

He launched a novel protest by pasting RB-X stickers on these government buildings as these are located in the vicinity of picturesque Hussain Sagar lake. The former Congress leader’s unique protest has become a topic of discussion among the people whose houses were identified and marked for demolition along the Musi River in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.

Earlier, reacting to the ongoing demolition drive of Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) to clear encroachments near the water bodies, Hyderabad MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi wondered if the Revanth Reddy government would demolish the GHMC building which was reportedly constructed on a water pond.

Amid raging protests from the residents of catchment areas, HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath said the agency is not connected to the recent surveys conducted by the government officials in the riverbed areas. He clarified that HYDRAA officials have nothing to do with the surveys or marking of houses for demolition and also the agency is not going to raze down any structure in the riverbed.
