Hyderabad: A task force from the Telangana Commissioner of Food Safety conducted inspections in the Bahadurpura and Zoo Park area on October 7, 2024, revealing significant food safety violations at multiple local establishments.

Shaheen Mandi – The Arabian Restaurant

During the raid at Shaheen Mandi, officials found several serious violations, including the absence of a displayed FSSAI license. Medical fitness certificates and pest control records were also missing.

Water stagnation was observed near the washing area, and both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items were stored together in the same refrigerator. Moreover, food articles were also found uncovered and unlabelled.

Suspicious synthetic food colours were discovered in non-vegetarian items and subsequently discarded. Leftover food was removed from the refrigerator on-site, and the refrigerator’s temperature records were unavailable. Additionally, officials found that the food handlers were working without hair caps, aprons, or gloves.

Hotel Fiza and Bakers

Inspections at Hotel Fiza revealed similar violations, including the lack of medical fitness certificates, pest control records, and water analysis reports for the RO water used in cooking.

The premises exhibited broken tiles and walls shedding particles, while the refrigerator was found in a highly unhygienic condition. Food articles inside the refrigerator were not properly covered or labelled.

Live cockroach infestations were observed in the kitchen, and doors and windows were open without appropriate insect-proof screens. Temperature records for the refrigerators were also missing, and leftover food was discarded on-site by the food safety officials. Some food handlers were observed without hair caps and aprons.

Sukha Sagar Udipi Veg

The inspection at Sukha Sagar Udipi Veg revealed an expired FSSAI license, which had lapsed on October 3, 2024, with no renewal in sight. Missing medical fitness and pest control records were noted, along with damage to the false ceiling in the dining area due to water seepage.

The cellar kitchen was found open to the outside without insect-proof screens, and water stagnation was observed near the washing area with an open drain. Prepared and semi-prepared food articles lacked proper labelling, and a live cockroach infestation was reported in the storeroom.

Additionally, temperature records for the refrigerator were not maintained, and several food handlers were noted without hair caps and aprons.
