₹75 lakh bounty Maoist Badse Sukka linked to major attacks in Bastar

Telangana: Badse Sukka, also known as Deva or Darshan, a senior commander of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), is among the most wanted Maoist leaders in the Dandakaranya region, with a cumulative reward of ₹75 lakh announced by Telangana and Chhattisgarh governments, according to police records.
Aged 48, Sukka hails from Puvarthi village under Jegurugonda police station limits in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Belonging to the Koya tribe, he is a state committee member and currently serves as a battalion commander of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), the armed wing of the CPI (Maoist).
Police documents describe him as carrying an AK-47 and fluent in Koya, Telugu and Hindi. He studied up to Class 10 in government schools at Puvarthi and Jegurugonda before discontinuing his education in 1997.
Rise within the Maoist hierarchy
Sukka joined the Maoist movement in December 2003 after working with the Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangh. He rose steadily through the ranks, serving as area committee member, local organising squad commander and area committee secretary across Konta and Kerlapal areas between 2004 and 2008.
From 2009 onwards, he held key military roles, including commander of the 24th PL unit in Darbha division and later in-charge of Katekalyan area committee. In January 2018, he was appointed secretary of the Darbha divisional committee. He was elevated to Dandakaranya special zonal committee member in December 2022.
In June 2023, Sukka was appointed PLGA battalion commander, replacing senior leader Madavi Hiduma alias Santhosh, who was later killed, police said.
Movement across regions
Security agencies say Sukka moved with senior Maoist leaders to the Karreguttalu forest area in January 2025. In October 2025, he allegedly shifted with his squad into Telangana and held a meeting with the Telangana State Committee leadership near Ilapur village in Mulugu district.
Alleged role in major attacks
Police attribute Sukka’s involvement to several high-casualty incidents, including multiple improvised explosive device blasts and ambushes in Sukma and Dantewada districts between 2006 and 2021. These include attacks that killed CRPF, District Reserve Guard, CISF personnel and Special Police Officers.
He is also accused of participating in the May 2013 Jhiram Ghati attack on a Congress convoy in Darbha valley, in which senior party leaders were killed, and in attacks on security camps in 2024 at Dharmaram and Jeeramguda.
Officials said operations were continuing across border forest areas to track his movement and dismantle remaining PLGA formations.
