Bachupally stray dog attacks

Hyderabad: Residents of KRCR Colony, located on Bachupally Road No. 1, are living in fear due to a surge in the number of stray dogs and recent dog-bite incidents. The situation has escalated to the point where dogs are snatching tiffin boxes from children and even attacking elderly residents.

The colony falls under the jurisdiction of the Nizampet Municipal Corporation, and residents are desperately pleading with the authorities to take immediate action to address this issue before a more serious incident occurs.

While speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, Srikanth, a resident of Road No. 1, KRCR Colony, said, “The growing number of stray dogs has become a daily menace. Their barking and aggressive behavior have instilled fear in both children and adults, making it difficult for them to venture outside their homes.”

Srikanth recounted a recent incident where a stray dog attacked an elderly person. The residents’ primary concern is the safety of children, as these dogs are now snatching tiffin and lunchboxes from them.

“It’s become a challenge for us to even walk on the streets. Imagine the fear children experience walking to school. Today, it’s just a tiffin box, but tomorrow, it could be a child being attacked. We are extremely worried, especially considering the rise in dog bite cases across Hyderabad. We urge the Nizampet Municipal Corporation to take immediate action to control the stray dog population and curb dog attacks in our area,” Srikanth said.

This incident comes on the heels of another close call reported on Monday in Ramnagar Colony, Ghatkesar, where a four-year-old boy was narrowly saved from a group of stray dogs by his father’s swift intervention. The boy was playing outside his house when the dogs chased him and attempted to attack. The father intervened in time and managed to chase the dogs away, rescuing his son.
