Residents demand repairs for pothole-riddled Bachupally Main Road
Hyderabad: Residents of Bachupally are facing a daily struggle due to the deplorable condition of the main road riddled with potholes. The dilapidated state of the road, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Nizampet Municipal Corporation, is causing immense inconvenience to commuters.
Residents have expressed concern about the potential for accidents if the situation is not addressed immediately.
Speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, Ramakrishna Yadav, a resident, highlighted the severity of the issue. He said, “The main road of Bachupally, under the Nizampet Municipal Corporation’s jurisdiction, is filled with potholes, causing immense inconvenience to the residents.”
He further elaborated on the problems that worsen during the rainy season. “Whenever it rains, the road near Angaara Restaurant transforms into a lake due to poor drainage. The entire stretch is riddled with potholes, making travel during the monsoon a nightmare. The situation is exacerbated after crossing the lake in front of Angara Restaurant and Sri Chaitanya College’s main campus. The road itself is in a sunken state, and there is no proper drainage for rainwater, leading to waterlogging,” Ramakrishna Yadav explained.
Ramakrishna pointed out the safety hazards posed by the poor road conditions. “Navigating these potholes is difficult even on normal days. But imagine the dangers during the rainy season, with waterlogging and stagnation on the roads. Frequent commuters are aware of the potholes, but what about those unfamiliar with the road? Accidents and severe injuries are inevitable under these circumstances,” he said.
Ramakrishna Yadav urged the Nizampet Municipal Corporation authorities to immediately rectify the situation, even with a temporary solution, to prevent any accidents. He also took to social media ‘X,’ previously known as Twitter and tagged the Nizampet Municipal Corporation, the Commissioner, and the Director of Municipal Administration, highlighting the recurring issue of rainwater flooding the Bachupally main road during the monsoon season.
