Thief steals Rs 70,000 from grocery shop in Pragathi Nagar, Bachupally

Bachupally: A grocery shop located at Alipe Second Gate in Pragathi Nagar, Bachupally was robbed early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. on July 31, according to a complaint filed at Bachupally police station.
The shop owner reported a loss of Rs. 70,000 in cash, along with other goods. The thief allegedly broke the shutter lock to gain entry into the shop. The crime came to light when the owner arrived to open the shop on Tuesday morning and found the shutter removed.
Suspecting a robbery, the owner immediately filed a complaint with the Bachupally police.
Public advisory: In light of the recent surge in thefts in Pragathi Nagar, including cycle thefts, battery thefts, and chain snatchings, police have urged residents to remain vigilant. They have advised residents to inform their neighbors and the police about their whereabouts, especially when going out alone.
The police also warned residents to be wary of strangers approaching them under various pretexts, such as asking for addresses or offering services like TV repair or internet connection setup. Women, in particular, have been cautioned about the modus operandi of chain snatchers.
Shop owners have been advised to avoid keeping large sums of cash or valuables in their shops and to install CCTV cameras for surveillance.
Parents have been alerted to the recent cases of child kidnapping and urged to exercise caution when opening doors to strangers, both during the day and night.
The police have requested the public to report any suspicious activity or theft to the authorities promptly.
