B.Tech student from Nellore held for drug peddling in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The Excise Special Task Force (STF) police arrested a B.Tech. student from Nellore for possessing drugs. The student, identified as Kattamanchi John, had come to Hyderabad to take software courses.
During its search operation, the STF personnel found John loitering in a suspicious manner near Sushma theatre in Vanasthalipuram. He was caught with 7 grams of MDMA while allegedly attempting to sell the drug to potential customers.
Acting on a tip-off, Excise STF officers conducted inspections near Vanasthalipuram’s SVR Garden and Kranti Hills colony. They spotted a suspicious person hanging near Sushma Theatre, later identified as John. The officers seized 7 grams of MDMA, along with his motorcycle and mobile phone.
The preliminary probe revealed John had procured MDMA for Rs. 2,500 per gram and was trying to sell it for Rs. 5,000 per gram near Sushma theatre, according to Excise Superintendent and STF Team Leader Nandyala Anji Reddy. During his stay in Hyderabad, John reportedly developed an addiction to drugs and marijuana, and he turned to selling drugs to support his addiction
