Students observing Ayyappa deeksha stopped from entering school in Nacharam
Hyderabad: Parents launched a protest outside the St. Peter School in Nacharam after their wards were stopped from entering the premises for observing Ayyappa Deeksha.
When two students came to school wearing only uniforms, the school’s management objected to their not wearing shoes and denied them entry. The school’s action enraged the parents, who were also observing deeksha.
The parents staged a dharna with their kids in front of the school. They questioned the school management for discriminating against their children on religious grounds and refusing them entry to the classes while observing deeksha.
Speaking to reporters, one of the parents highlighted that other schools in the neighborhood are allowing the students in deeksha while this school has a problem with religious practice. As the protest continued, Nacharam police reached the school premises and tried to resolve the matter.
A similar incident took place in October 2023, when Pallavi International School, situated in Moinabad, stopped two students from entering the premises wearing clothes worn by Ayyappa devotees.
On Monday, two students from St. Peter’s Model School in Nacharam were denied entry for observing Ayyappaswamy deeksha. In protest, their parents and Ayyappa devotees gathered at the school, voicing their discontent against the management’s decision.#Hydrabad #Nacharam… pic.twitter.com/dWOLJC7iDN
