Hyderabad: Avanthi College wins OU taekwondo title

HYDERABAD: Avanthi Degree and Postgraduate College clinched the overall team championship at the Osmania University inter-college men’s taekwondo tournament held at the OU Indoor Stadium.
Avanthi topped the team standings, while Dr BR Ambedkar College and RG Kedia College finished runners-up in the team event.
The valedictory function was attended by organising secretary Someshwar Rao, Rajesh Kumar, Dean, Faculty of Physical Education, Osmania University, B Sunil Kumar, Principal, University College of Physical Education, Osmania University, K Deepla, Director of Physical Education, Osmania University, and J Babulal, taekwondo coach.
Loyola, RG Kedia, Avanthi athletes shine
In the 54 kg category, Ch Sai Ram of Loyola Academy secured first place. B Gopi of Dr BR Ambedkar College finished second, while Harshith of Badruka College took third.
In 58 kg, R Shiv Kiran of RG Kedia College won gold. B Shravan Kumar of Bhavan’s College secured second place. G Srikar of Avinash College and K Ramesh shared third place.
In the below 63 kg category, P Gopi of Government Degree College, Khairtabad, claimed first place. N Tharun of OU Engineering College finished second. M Mayank Trivedi of Avanthi and Shiva Shankar of Matrusri Engineering College shared third.
In below 68 kg, T Hriday Singh of RG Kedia College secured first place. N Tejesh of SP College finished second. Vaishnav Adithya of Nizam College and Sashreek of Avanthi shared third place.
Abhijeet of Matrusri won gold in the below 74 kg category. C Siddhartha of OU Engineering College secured second, while Sai Karthik Reddy of Avanthi finished third.
In below 80 kg, Mayuresh Singh of St Paul’s College won gold. G Sai Charan of AV College secured second place. Pushkar Singh of Dr BR Ambedkar College and Ch Vallabh of Avanthi College finished third.
In the below 87 kg category, S Nithish Kumar of Dr BR Ambedkar College secured first place. T Abhishek of Avanthi finished second. Pawan Vaije of Badruka College and Shaik Mazar Nawaz of Bhavan’s College shared third.
In the above 87 kg category, S Srivastava of Avinash College won gold. B Sai of Avanthi secured second, while T Ram Charan of Badruka College finished third.
