AV Ranganath reviews lake beautification for kite festival

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) commissioner, AV Ranganath, on Thursday inspected lakes developed by the agency as part of preparations for the government’s decision to organise large-scale kite festival celebrations at these locations.
As part of the review, Ranganath visited Kukatpally Nalla Cheruvu, Thammidi Kunta, and Bum-Rukn-ud-Daula lake, and assessed the ongoing development and arrangements at each site.
With the festival expected to attract large public gatherings, the commissioner directed officials to complete all pending beautification works within three to four days and ensure the lakes are fully prepared as event venues. He reviewed lighting installations and instructed officials to strengthen illumination across lake peripheries and public areas.
Ranganath also called for extensive plantation as part of the beautification drive, stressing that greenery should be enhanced to improve the overall appearance of the lake surroundings. He issued clear instructions that there should be no negligence in lake protection and maintenance.
Emphasising public convenience, the commissioner asked officials to develop the lake surroundings in a manner that is attractive and accessible to visitors. He directed them to expedite works related to walking tracks, lighting, sanitation and security arrangements.
Ranganath instructed that all works must be completed on a war footing to ensure the lakes are fully ready by the time of the festival. He said the arrangements should meet safety standards while also offering a clean and pleasant environment for the public during the celebrations.
