Attempt to murder case filed against MLA Arekapudi Gandhi in clash with Kaushik Reddy

Attempt to murder case against MLA Arekapudi Gandhi

Hyderabad: An attempt to murder case has been filed against Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi, his son, and his brother by the Gachibowli police, following a complaint lodged by Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy.

Along with Arekapudi Gandhi and his family, the police have also named Miyapur corporator Srikanth and corporator Venkatesh Goud as accused in the case. The allegations arise from an altercation that reportedly escalated into a violent confrontation.

The incident occurred in Kondapur, Hyderabad, where an argument between Gandhi and Kaushik Reddy escalated into a street altercation. Gandhi, accompanied by many supporters, reportedly arrived at Reddy’s residence, escalating the political rivalry.

The confrontation was triggered by Kaushik Reddy’s earlier statement that he would visit Gandhi’s home and hoist a BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) scarf. This comment provoked Gandhi, who accused Kaushik Reddy of being a coward and a political opportunist. Gandhi then promised to visit Kaushik Reddy’s residence if he failed to come to his house.

Tensions further escalated when Gandhi and his followers reached Kaushik Reddy’s house, demanding that Kaushik either come out or be forcibly brought outside. Despite a huge police force presence intended to maintain order, the situation deteriorated as Gandhi’s supporters attempted to climb the gate of Kaushik Reddy’s property. A confrontation ensued between Gandhi’s followers and the police, with some supporters managing to breach the gate and enter Kaushik’s premises.

The escalating tensions led to protests by several BRS leaders, resulting in the arrest of prominent political leaders such as Harish Rao. Although Harish Rao was later released from the police station, several other BRS leaders, including Kaushik Reddy, were placed under house arrest to maintain law and order. Additionally, the police were deployed at Arekapudi Gandhi’s residence yesterday to ensure his safety.
