Madhapur crash: Mechanical error ruled out in Aston Martin

HYDERABAD: Mechanical failure has been ruled out in the fatal Aston Martin crash in Madhapur involving Lingamaneni Sanjush, son of Jana Sena Rajya Sabha MP Lingamaneni Ramesh, as reported by DC.
A motor vehicle inspection found no mechanical defect in the car. The report stated that the accident was “not due to mechanical error”. Investigators will now examine possible human factors.
The car allegedly driven by Sanjush hit 26-year-old Odisha native Bharati Mukhi. She later died of her injuries in hospital. Madhapur police registered a case and sought the vehicle inspection report as part of the probe.
Inspection covered brakes, steering and tyres
Sources said officials examined the car’s brakes, steering, tyres, wiring and gear systems.
The inspection found no signs of a mechanical defect. The report therefore ruled out mechanical error as the cause of the crash, a source said.
Officials said such inspections help determine whether a defect existed before a collision. They can also identify damage or deterioration that developed over time.
Signs such as rust, worn wiring and component deterioration can sometimes indicate a pre-existing defect. Officials said the inspection found no such indications in the vehicle.
Probe shifts focus to crash circumstances
Investigators said human factors contribute to most road crashes. The Motor Vehicles Inspector’s report estimated that overspeeding accounts for around 70% of major accidents. Signal violations, drunk driving and other factors contribute about 10% each, the report said.
The report also highlighted the performance and power of high-end vehicles. It stressed the need for speed discipline and driver awareness.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash. They are also awaiting reports from the Forensic Science Laboratory.
