Ashok Reddy reviews Singur Phase-3 repairs in Zoom meet
HYDERABAD: Managing Director Ashok Reddy held a Zoom meeting with senior officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board to review emergency repair works on the Singur Phase-3 main pipeline supplying drinking water to the city.
The repairs are being taken up to arrest major leakages in the pipeline drawing water from the Singur Project. Routine maintenance works will also be carried out by Telangana State Transco during the same period.
The works will continue until 8 pm, leading to disruption of drinking water supply for about 12 hours in areas falling under the affected reservoirs. Water supply will be restored immediately after completion of the repairs.
During the meeting, Ashok Reddy sought updates on the progress of the works and asked operations and maintenance and transmission wings to coordinate closely. He directed officials to ensure water supply through tankers in areas facing disruption so that residents are not inconvenienced.
He instructed officials to complete the works at the earliest and restore water supply within the stipulated time. Each general manager was asked to prepare an action plan for areas under their jurisdiction, including details of localities and the number of connections likely to be affected.
Officials were told to plan tanker supply accordingly and disseminate information about the disruption through social media. Line men and meter readers were asked to inform residents directly, while local leaders, corporators and MLAs were to be briefed and involved in creating awareness about storing water in advance.
Residents with sump and storage facilities were advised to store water, while all consumers were urged to avoid wastage and use water judiciously during the disruption period.
