Asaduddin Owaisi calls for black armband protest on Friday

Hyderabad: As the nation mourns the loss of 26 lives in the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir valley, AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has appealed to the Muslims to wear a black band on their arms during prayers on Friday.

In a video message posted on X, Owaisi said, “As you all know, Pakistan’s Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists have taken the lives of 26 tourists in Pahalgam. In condemnation of this act of terror and crime, when you go for prayers tomorrow, please wear a black band on your arm.”

Earlier, the AIMIM chief condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and claimed that the terrorists targeted victims based on their faith. He also called for strengthening the security measures in sensitive regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Because of this attack, the terrorists have got an opportunity to target our Kashmiri brothers. I appeal to all Indians not to fall prey to the tricks of the enemy,” Owaisi added.

The AIMIM leader also questioned the central government over the Pahalgam attack and said justice would only prevail when accountability is fixed.

“A place where there were so many tourists, there was not even one police personnel, or a CRPF camp. The Quick Reaction Team (QRT) took over an hour to reach the spot. And these people shot people after asking about their faith. They came from Pakistan, and Pakistan supports them. How did they cross the border? Who is responsible for it? They could also reach Srinagar if they reached Pahalgam.”

The Hyderabad MP is also attending the all-party meeting currently underway at the Parliament Annexe building in New Delhi on Thursday. The meeting is being chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Earlier in the day, Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy, deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and various other leaders observed a two-minute silence to honour the victims of the terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

The Congress party has planned to hold nationwide candle marches on April 25 to protest against terrorism and honour the deceased.
