As mosquitoes give sleepless nights, Hyderabad residents voice their grievances on social media

Hyderabad: For the past few weeks, residents of Hyderabad are grappling with a growing mosquito menace in the city. Several people have taken to social media to complain about the increase in mosquito population in their localities.
The mosquitos may be giving sleepless nights to many, however, many of them, who are parents, are worried about their kids due to the increased risk of mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.
The complaints are mostly about the garbage piling up on the streets and sewage water flowing on the roads which have become the breeding ground for mosquitoes. While others claim that the civic teams are not carrying out the fogging regularly in their areas.
The r/Hyderabad Subreddit has many users posting about the growing menace of blood-sucking mosquitoes.
“The mosquito problem wasn’t so severe in the past 2 years I’ve stayed in Hyd. Idk how or why but the issue got severe from Nov/December 2024 for me. With my bare hands i would kill at least 10 mosquitos daily for the past month and do not see the number reducing!” posted one Redditor.
Another user shared his ninja technique to avoid the mosquito biting during the night.
“I live on 3rd floor, there are max 1-2 mosquitos because we close doors after 5:30. There is no simple solution. Keep ur doors closed after 5:30pm and dont open till mrng 6:30am,” he posted.
