HYDERABAD: Hyderabad shuttlers Arjun Reddy and D Achutaditya Rao have won four international medals in the last two months gold in Mexico, silver in Trinidad & Tobago and Zambia, and bronze in South Africa.

Arjun returns after decade-long break

For 43 year old Arjun Reddy, the string of results marks a successful return to professional badminton after a break of nearly 10 years. He teamed up with 23 year old Achutaditya for his comeback.

Arjun earlier partnered leading Indian players including Chetan Anand, Arvind Bhatt, Anoop Sridhar, Diju, Sanave Thomas and Roopesh. He won the Morocco Open in 2013, three months before retiring to manage his family’s construction firm, Silpa Homes Pvt Ltd. He later co-founded the education mentoring venture Gradvine Advisors.

Training for second innings

Driven by his interest in developing new talent, Arjun now runs A Zone Sports, one of Hyderabad’s largest badminton academies. He trains under Indonesian coach Namrih as part of his return to international competition.

“I am happy to become the first Indian to win four consecutive international medals after returning to the sport. This journey has reinforced my belief that passion and devotion can help us achieve bigger things. I will continue to work harder and make India proud,” Arjun Reddy said.
