Aramghar-Zoo Park flyover is now ready to welcome motorists

Hyderabad: After several delays, the Aramghar-Zoo Park flyover is all set for inauguration. Earlier it was announced that the six lane flyover between Aramghar to Nehru Zoological Park in Bahadurpura in Hyderabad would be thrown open to the public on December 3, 2024.
The chief minister Revanth Reddy was expected to inaugurate the flyover under the “Hyderabad Rising” programme as part of the nine-day Praja Palana-Praja Vijayotsavalu, marking the first anniversary of Congress government.
Dubbed as the city’s second longest flyover after PVNR Expressway, it was built at an estimated cost of Rs. 636.8 crore. Aramghar-Zoo Park flyover is 4.08 km long and has a six-lane, bidirectional structure. It bypasses several signals en route and is expected to smoothen traffic flow from Zoo Park to Hyderabad Airport.
The flyover is ready to welcome vehicular traffic, however, the work on the construction of entry and exit ramps to access it from Shastripura, Babagadda, Mahmood Nagar and other areas is still a work in progress.
The GHMC officials have attributed the delay in the construction of ramps to the land acquisition in Babagadda area. The flyover was approved by the civic body in February 2018. The officials are hoping to begin the work on building the ramps soon.
Meanwhile, the motorists and RTC bus drivers who may not use the second largest flyover are complaining about the traffic issues under the flyover. The road users say the ongoing construction work, compounded by the bad road conditions, have made their commutes a nightmare.
