HYDERABAD: The Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (AIMSR) formally inducted its MBBS Class of 2025 with a White Coat Ceremony at the RNR Auditorium, Jubilee Hills. During the event, 150 new medical students received their white coats from chief guest Dr. K. J. Reddy, a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon and Professor at Apollo Hospitals.

Attended by faculty, parents, and institute leadership, the ceremony is a rite of passage for aspiring doctors. It highlights the humanistic values central to medicine.

In his address, Dr. K.J. Reddy encouraged students to draw inspiration from Apollo’s founder. “Visionary legend Dr. Prathap C. Reddy transformed healthcare in India,” he stated, urging students to embrace compassion, excellence, and innovation. Dr. Reddy spoke about how medicine is evolving and advised students to utilize technology to enhance their learning. “Artificial Intelligence is revolutionizing the world of medicine. Those who resist will risk redundancy; those who adapt will redefine success,” he said, adding that AI can help improve diagnosis and patient care.

Dr. K. Manohar, Dean of AIMSR, reminded students about their responsibilities. “As you don the white coat and take your solemn oath, you are embracing a lifelong commitment to compassion, ethics, and excellence,” he said. He also advised students to prioritize their own well-being so they can effectively handle the demands of their future careers.

Furthermore, Aparna Reddy K, Chief Operating Officer of AIMSR, informed students that the white coat symbolizes more than just attire. “It represents your commitment to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, to respect the autonomy and dignity of every patient, and to provide compassionate and evidence-based care,” she said.

The ceremony concluded with 150 students taking the Hippocratic Oath, promising to uphold the ethical standards of their profession. This marked a strong start to their journey and reinforced the values of integrity, empathy, and excellence.
