Ap Man Tied To Scooter, Dragged Over 30,000 Debt; Five Held

HYDERABAD: A motorcycle mechanic and his associates allegedly beat a man, tied him to a scooter and dragged him along a road at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district over a ₹30,000 debt.

Police arrested five persons after a video of the incident surfaced on social media and went viral. The victim, Yella Rajesh, lives in Ramachandrapeta, as reported by TOI.

According to police, Rajesh agreed to buy a motorcycle from mechanic V Mahesh for ₹25,000. During a test ride, he allegedly rammed the bike into a police constable’s car and damaged it.

Mahesh’s brother reportedly paid ₹5,000 to the constable to settle the repair costs. Police said the total amount Rajesh owed later reached ₹30,000, including the motorcycle cost and repair expenses.

Rajesh allegedly failed to repay the money despite repeated demands. Police said Mahesh and his friend L Sriram abducted Rajesh while he was travelling on September 5. They allegedly took him to a mechanic’s shed in Bhogapuram and confined him there.

The next morning, Rajesh reportedly told them he could not pay immediately. Mahesh, Sriram and their associates B Venkata Rao, N Govind and V Appa Rao then allegedly assaulted him.

The accused allegedly removed Rajesh’s shirt and tied ropes around his hands and neck. They then dragged him along the road and later pulled him with a scooter.

The incident came to light after a video surfaced on social media. Following the video’s circulation, police arrested all five accused and registered multiple cases.
