Anurag Group Encroachment FIR

Hyderabad: The Pocharam IT Corridor police filed an FIR against Anurag Group of Institutions on August 23, 2024, accusing the educational institution of illegally encroaching on Nadam Cheruvu, a lake situated in Venkatapur village, Ghatkesar Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri District.

The case was registered after receiving a complaint from A. Paramesh, Assistant Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Section in Ghatkesar Mandal.

The FIR includes charges under sections 329(3), 324(4), 279 of the BNS Act, and sections 3 and 4 of the PDPPA.

Paramesh’s complaint alleges that the institution, operated under the Gayatri Educational Trust and owned by Palla Rajeswar Reddy, a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA and a close associate of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), is unlawfully constructing a college building within the lake’s buffer zone.

As part of the Mission Kakatiya Phase-IV initiative, Nadam Cheruvu, linked with UID: 50431201901301 and Geo ID: 786543174230, has been recently restored.

On August 22, 2024, Paramesh observed construction activities within the buffer zone of Nadam Cheruvu during an inspection. He reported that these activities violate the Irrigation Act, which prohibits any alteration or construction within water body areas and their components.

The FIR complaint states, “According to the Irrigation Act, the construction or alteration of any structure within the water body and its components is highly objectionable and illegal. Under ACT 1357F, we request a detailed inquiry into this matter, filing an FIR against the defaulters, and appropriate action.”

Following the complaint, the Pocharam IT Corridor police have initiated a thorough investigation and lodged an FIR against Anurag Group of Institutions.
