Antonov cargo aircraft lands at Shamshabad airport

HYDERABAD: A giant Antonov AN-124 cargo aircraft, one of the largest freight planes in the world, landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad around 12 noon on Friday.
According to airport officials, the aircraft arrived from Russia carrying a special consignment for the Shamshabad airport cargo terminal. The Antonov AN-124 is among the biggest cargo aircraft to operate globally, capable of carrying oversized and heavy loads.
Officials said that earlier, a Belga cargo aircraft had landed at the airport, making the Antonov the second such large-scale cargo carrier to arrive here.
The GMR airport management team extended a warm welcome to the pilots and crew on arrival. The aircraft later took off at around 3 pm after unloading the cargo, officials added.
