Hyderabad: Dog owner brutally kills 5 newborn stray puppies in parking lot

Hyderabad: In a disturbing incident of animal cruelty, a young man allegedly killed five-day-old stray puppies in a brutal manner at a residential apartment in Hyderabad.
The gruesome episode caught on CCTV took place in the parking area of Indis VB City, a residential complex in Bolarum. The visuals show the accused identified as Ashish, a resident of the society and a pet parent, finds a puppy near the parked vehicles while walking with his dog. He lifts the baby dog and smashes it on the floor and later crushes it under his feet.
A day later, the residents of the society found the dead puppies in the parking area. The footage from a surveillance camera revealed that the accused entered the cellar around 1.20 am and killed the stray dog puppies.
In the now viral video Ashish can be seen confessing to the crime on camera. He said the gruesome incident took place at 2 am on February 14, 2025. When he was asked about what triggered him to kill the innocent puppies, he explained he hated the stray dogs because they sometimes bark and attack without provocation.
Following a complaint from residents, the Alwal police registered a case under relevant sections and are investigating it.
It is pertinent to note that any act of cruelty against animals is a punishable offence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals Act.
