‘Unfair to ask Andhra cab drivers to leave Hyderabad’, Andhra Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan reacts

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, K Pawan Kalyan intervenes into the ongoing cold war between the Telangana versus other state cab drivers operating particularly in the limits of Greater Hyderabad. Following the end of Hyderabad as a joint capital, Telangana cab drivers alleged that several cab drivers from other states are operating in Hyderabad, which is resulting in the lack of opportunities for the local drivers.

Andhra Cab drivers allege that the they are being treated rudely by the local cab drivers and even being blackmailed and harassed in some instances. With this cold treatment, the cab drivers said that they are unable to operate in Hyderabad. In a recent move, local cab drivers also staged a protest at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at the Shamshabad, demanding strict enforcement from the Road Transport Authority (RTA) and not to allow other state drivers to operate in the city.

However, the Andhra cab drivers say that they are running with the local temporary permits from the Telangana government, despite which, they are being forced not to operate in the city. As a result, the Andhra drivers said that more than 2000 families are affected, as there are no proper raids.

A humanitarian approach needed

Cab drivers hailing from Andhra Pradesh, as a last hope went and met the Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who upon enquiring about the situation requested the Telangana government to take a positive decision in a humanitarian approach.

Pawan Kalyan further said, “The developmental works in Andhra Pradesh capital would also begin soon and people would also get suitable opportunities for their livelihood. Just because, the duration for the Hyderabad as a joint capital expired, cab drivers workign there should not be asked to go back. There are 2000 families affected here. We will take initiative and see that Telangana government takes a humanitarian decision in this regard.”

Pawan Kalyan further requested the cab drivers from Telangana to co-operate with the Andhra cab drivers in this regard.
