Amrabad tiger safari opens with tiger sighting

Tigger

AMRABAD: The Amrabad tiger safari resumed after a three-month break, with visitors spotting a tiger on the first day of the new season.

Visitors saw the big cat during both morning and evening safari trips, drawing more attention to the Amrabad Tiger Reserve. Nagarkurnool District Forest Officer Revanth Chandra said the sightings were likely to increase tourists’ interest in the reserve.

Tiger movement began towards end of previous safari season

Revanth Chandra said the tiger had started moving through the safari zone towards the end of the previous safari season. He said the current season was important for the Amrabad Tiger Reserve.

He urged the media to help bring safari and ecotourism activities closer to the public by producing special stories on the reserve.

Forest officials and staff working in different parts of Telangana were also advised to visit the Amrabad Tiger Reserve whenever possible and study the wildlife conservation and ecotourism programmes being implemented there.

Officials urged everyone to contribute to creating greater public awareness about the importance of the Amrabad Tiger Reserve.

Vinay Kumar calls for greater vigilance on conservation

While the sighting of a tiger by visitors was a welcome development, it also increased the responsibility of personnel at the Amrabad Tiger Reserve, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Vinay Kumar said.

He directed officials to focus on the conservation of tigers and other wildlife and protection of their habitats.

Vinay Kumar ordered officials to prepare a firm daily patrolling schedule across the reserve and ensure its implementation on the ground.

He also directed officials and staff from all departments to remain vigilant in managing safari areas and work in coordination to protect wildlife.
