Spotted deer dies after being hit by unidentified vehicle near Amrabad

AMRABAD: A spotted deer died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on the road between Amrabad and Mannanur, near the PVTG school, in the early hours (5–6 am) on Friday.
Locals who spotted the injured animal alerted forest staff. The forest team reached the scene, conducted a site inspection and a panchanama, and moved the carcass into the forest area. The deer was confirmed dead at the scene. According to officials, they have begun checking CCTV footage from nearby points along the road to identify the vehicle responsible.
The incident occurred within or alongside the territory of the Amrabad Tiger Reserve, a protected area in Telangana. Wildlife-department officers say that road-kills of wild herbivores such as spotted deer are rare but increasing as roads cut through or border forest habitats. As part of preventive measures, the Telangana Forest Department recently established Quick Reaction Teams in the Mannanur zone specifically to respond rapidly to incidents of wildlife straying onto roads and fatalities.
Forest officials appealed to motorists to reduce speed on this stretch, especially during dawn and dusk, which sees higher wildlife movement. They also urged passing motorists and locals to report any injured animal immediately to the nearest forest range office.
Authorities said they will keep the carcass under observation for further analysis and planning of road-kill mitigation measures
