Hyderabad: Amgen Inc., a prominent global biotechnology firm, has announced plans to establish a major new research and development center in Hyderabad, Telangana. This new facility, situated in a six-storey building in Hi-Tech City, is set to generate around 3,000 new jobs and is scheduled to begin operations by the end of this year.

The announcement follows a recent visit by Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and senior officials to Amgen’s R&D center in San Francisco. During the visit, an agreement was signed with Amgen’s Managing Director, Dr. David Rees, and National Executive Som Chattopadhyay, formalising the establishment of the Hyderabad center.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed pride in Hyderabad’s selection as Amgen’s new development hub, highlighting the significance of the move for the city’s biotechnology sector. He praised the company’s commitment to advancing technology and improving patient outcomes as truly inspiring.

Dr. Rees, Amgen’s MD, highlighted that the new center will integrate data science and artificial intelligence to further the company’s pioneering efforts in biotechnology. He described the Hyderabad facility as a major milestone in the field.

Industries Minister Sridhar Babu lauded Amgen’s decision to choose Hyderabad, reaffirming the city’s global status as a prime location for the life sciences industry. He assured that the government will provide strong support for the company’s expansion.

Amgen operates in over 100 countries and employs approximately 27,000 people worldwide.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy visits Apple Park, seeks investment

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy described his visit to Apple Park, the corporate headquarters of Apple Inc. in Cupertino, California, as exhilarating. The 175-acre campus provided the ideal setting to showcase Hyderabad and Telangana as leading investment destinations across various sectors.

Accompanied by Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu and senior officials, Chief Minister Reddy presented key initiatives such as the new Electronics Park, Skills University, AI City, and Future City to senior Apple executives responsible for manufacturing, public policy, and healthcare.

Revanth Reddy expressed confidence that the positive discussions would benefit Hyderabad and Telangana significantly.
