Ameerpet Residents Grapple With Water Stagnation

Ameerpet: Over the past four to five years, the residents of Ameerpet have been grappling with a severe issue of stagnation and a significant accumulation of garbage during the monsoon season. This has not only led to the breeding of disease-carrying mosquitoes but has also triggered a host of health hazards near the renowned Satyam Theatre in Ameerpet. The situation is becoming increasingly dire, with complications mounting.

While talking to Hyderabad Mail, Sai Teja, a resident and Social Activist, said, “I noticed water stagnation at Satyam Theatre, which has created a breeding ground for mosquitoes and is causing other health hazards. There is a significant amount of waste piled up at that spot, and it’s not only the responsibility of civic officials but also the responsibility of the public to not throw garbage on the roads. Additionally, there are many unhygienic eateries in the area, but people in Ameerpet continue to eat there and are getting affected.”

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has developed a monsoon action plan in anticipation of the upcoming monsoon season. The social activist has requested the authorities to place caution boards near stagnant water to raise awareness and educate people. Sai Teja expressed concern about the difficulties in commuting through these areas.

“There are external factors like potential accidents from falling into the stagnant water. Despite the presence of barricades, many people do not follow the traffic rules and attempt to push through them, leading to additional problems. Placing a sign or caution board would certainly help the commuters passing through that area,” said Sai Teja.

Sai Teja stressed, “If the officials are aware of the problem, they should be actively working on a solution. This issue has persisted for four to five years during the monsoon season, and it’s high time it was addressed.”

Numerous complaints have been submitted, but the authorities have not found a solution. Instead, they are transferring the complaints to other departments, claiming that it does not fall under their jurisdiction. No department is taking this issue seriously, and as a result, the public is suffering because of the problem, as stated by Sai Teja.

Sai Teja took to ‘X’ and posted, “New swimming pool along with a garbage dump opposite to Asian Theatre, #Ameerpet, formerly Satyam Theatre.”
