Ameenpur residents urge HMWSSB to change water supply timings for working families
HYDERABAD: Residents of Ameenpur have expressed concerns about the daily water supply schedule set by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), highlighting a clash between civic schedules and the professional lives of the community.
In a petition to the HMWSSB office in Beeramguda, over 2000 residents, including many teachers and working women, stated that the current 2:00 PM supply is inconvenient because they are not home to collect and store water for their daily needs.
“We, the residents, humbly request your kind attention. We would be extremely grateful if the water supply timing could be adjusted to a later hour, preferably around 4:00 pm, which would be more suitable for the majority of residents,” the petition reads.
Speaking anonymously to HyderabadMail, a resident voiced concerns that go beyond the timing issue. “The Ameenapur water supply system lacks regular maintenance, and the water board staff, including managers and supply personnel, are unresponsive,” the resident alleged. “It would be beneficial to have new staff members who are dedicated and efficient in their work,” added another resident.
The call for a later water supply and better service shows the challenges that come with a growing community.
