Ameenpur Citizens Demand Completion of Halted Road Works Amid Dust and Pothole Issues

Ameenpur: Ameenpur residents are growing increasingly frustrated with the halt in road construction works, which were begun several months ago but remain unfinished. The incomplete roads are causing daily inconveniences, with citizens facing dust storms and dangerous potholes, particularly on the stretch between Gandhi Statue and Bandan Kommu Road.

The issue was recently highlighted by local resident Mahesh Reddy on X (formerly Twitter), who shared a post that read: “@AmeenpurM do we have any update on roads from Gandhi Statue to Bandan Kommu Road in Ameenpur? @Collector_SRD requesting madam, please look into it. Ameenpur is struggling with bad roads and no streetlights. It’s not ‘Ameenpur,’ it’s ‘Andhapur.’ @PanduThummala @cdmatelangana.”

Another concerned resident, Satya Vissakoti, echoed similar frustrations, posting, “Please see the dust on Ameenpur roads from Gandhi Circle to Fusion School. The public is suffering from breathing problems due to dust. Please show empathy in resolving these issues. @cdmatelangana @AmeenpurM.”

Speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, Mahesh Reddy explained that the road issues have been persisting for the past 3-4 years. “The roads were initially small but were later widened. However, the widening has led to an increase in potholes. Roads near Bandan Kommu Cheruvu are particularly bad, with narrow paths, no streetlights, and encroachment on the lake area. The roads are so narrow that only one vehicle can pass at a time, leading to frequent accidents,” he said.

Mahesh Reddy also shared his frustration over the lack of response from the Ameenpur Municipality despite multiple complaints. “We’ve raised this issue countless times, but the authorities have failed to act. There was a cement road laid from Bandan Kommu Road to Gandhi Statue, but it lacks proper quality, and there are still huge potholes. Many people have fallen due to these, and the authorities keep shifting and blame contractors and they say they’re not being paid, while officials claim contractors aren’t working,” Mahesh Reddy added.

In addition to the road quality concerns, Mahesh Reddy pointed out the severe dust pollution on the stretch near the bar and restaurant in Ameenpur. “The authorities laid wet mix on that road and abandoned the work. Now, over 200 vehicles pass through daily, kicking up dust and causing significant air pollution. We are constantly inhaling this dust. The temporary fixes offered by the authorities aren’t enough. We need permanent solutions. If things don’t improve, we are planning a protest soon,” he warned.

Local resident Ramakrishna Yadav also expressed his dissatisfaction, stating, “The road works began some time ago, but after the rains, the construction came to a halt. Now, the incomplete roads are causing a dust storm for riders. We’ve made several follow-ups, but there has been no response. We urge the authorities to resume work as soon as possible.”
