Hyderabad Woman Held For Plotting Husband’s Abduction; 9 Others Arrested

HYDERABAD: Amberpet police, arrested ten persons, including a woman who allegedly masterminded the abduction of her husband for ransom. The accused, identified as M. Madhavi Latha, 51, of Bandlaguda Jagir in Ranga Reddy district, is said to have conspired with others to kidnap her husband, Mantri Shyam, of DD Colony, Hyderabad.

Police seized three cars an Ertiga, a Creta, and a Fronx two scooters, and six mobile phones. The case was registered under Section 140(2), Section 111, read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Amberpet police station.

Victim escaped before ransom payment

According to police, on October 29 at about 20.30 hrs, Fatima, a relative of the victim, reported that her husband had been abducted by unknown persons. Special teams were formed, and technical evidence was gathered. The next day, the kidnappers allegedly demanded ₹10 lakh for the victim’s release.

On October 31, while the abductors brought Shyam to a bank at Banjara Hills to withdraw money, he managed to escape. Police soon located him and recorded his statement. He reportedly named his wife as the main conspirator.

Plot hatched to seize property

Investigators said Madhavi Latha had promised ₹1 crore to her associates Vundy Durga Vinay (32), Katta Durga Prasad alias Sai (32), Katamoni Purushotham (31), Sandolu Naresh Kumar alias Nani (29), G. Preethi (34), L. Saritha (32), Khoshakolu Pavan Kumar (25), Narayana Rishikesh Singh (23), and Pilli Vinay (29).

She allegedly planned to force her husband to sign over property documents and later eliminate him. The gang had rented a flat adjacent to the victim’s home to monitor his movements.

Investigation and recovery

Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police B. Balaswamy, Additional DCP J. Narsaiah, and ACP Y. Harish Kumar, a team led by Inspector T. Kiran Kumar and Detective Inspector Mohd. Hafeezuddin apprehended the accused. Sub-Inspectors G. Suresh Kumar and I. Tarun Kumar and a team of head constables and constables assisted in the operation. Police said efforts are on to trace the remaining suspects.
