Amberpet flyover service road delay raised with Revanth Reddy
HYDERABAD: A request has been made to Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy to intervene and resolve delays in constructing the service road beneath the Amberpet flyover on National Highway 163.
Service road pending despite flyover inauguration
The 1.5 km four-lane Amberpet flyover was built by the Union ministry of road transport and highways at a cost of ₹265 crore on NH163, earlier known as NH202, to ease traffic congestion and reduce travel time in Hyderabad.
Union minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the flyover on May 5, 2025. Telangana roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar attended the programme along with the local Member of Parliament.
However, the service road beneath the flyover remains incomplete because land acquisition for the project has not been fully resolved.
Land acquisition disputes stall completion
The letter states that several groups have been obstructing the land acquisition process, causing delays in completing the service road. Although the flyover project was sanctioned in 2018 and later completed, the absence of a fully constructed service road has created difficulties for commuters travelling along the stretch.
According to the communication, the government has already paid ₹2.54 crore as compensation to the beneficiary for the land required for acquisition. Despite this, middlemen are reportedly obstructing the process.
The issue was earlier brought to the attention of former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and the present chief minister several times. The matter was also reportedly raised by Union minister Nitin Gadkari with Telangana ministers.
The MP said he had repeatedly discussed the issue with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation commissioner and other officials, but the problem remains unresolved.
He urged the chief minister to personally intervene and direct officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and the state roads and buildings department to take steps to resolve the land dispute and complete construction of the service road.
