Man duped of ₹2.47 lakh in fake Amazon delivery hub partnership scam

HYDERABAD: A 44-year-old pharmaceutical employee from Bowrampet alleged that he was cheated of ₹2,47,498 by unidentified persons who promised him Amazon delivery hub partnership and later demanded payments under various pretexts.
According to the complaint lodged by Naveen Kumar, a resident of Bowrampet, said he received an email offering him an Amazon delivery hub partnership as a courier associate.
He stated that the total agreement cost was ₹1,50,000. The amount allegedly included area lock fee of ₹17,700, security deposit of ₹28,948, agreement fee of ₹37,687, training fee of ₹20,665 and installation fee of ₹45,000.
Naveen Kumar told police that a person identifying himself as Prasad, came to Bowrampet from Ghatkesar on February 13, 2026. He allegedly collected his signature on the agreement documents and obtained copies of his PAN card and address proof.
Victim transferred funds through UPI and GPay
As per the agreement and subsequent emails, the complainant said he transferred ₹1,50,000 through Google Pay.
He further alleged that other persons, who identified themselves as Mohan Raj, Abhiram and Vamshi, later contacted him through IVR calls. They allegedly demanded additional payments of ₹45,000 towards Memorandum of Understanding charges and ₹49,999 as No-Objection charges.
Though he initially refused, he claimed they insisted that further processing would not continue without the payment. On February 17, 2026, he transferred the amount through UPI from his ICICI Bank account.
Complaint filed after fresh demand for ₹39,499
After paying a total of ₹2,47,498, the complainant said he received another email requesting payment of ₹39,499 towards “E-WAY” charges.
Suspecting fraud, he approached the police station and requested that action be taken against the persons who allegedly cheated him, and that steps be initiated to recover his money.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
