RANGA REDDY : Police arrested a woman accused of cheating people by collecting money in the name of chit funds and hand loans and sent her to judicial remand.
Police act on complaints from victims
According to Station House Officer Venkateswarlu, the accused, Lakumarapu Lavanya of Ekvaipalli village in Kadthal mandal, along with her husband Lakshminarayana, was running a grocery shop in Amangal.
Collected ₹2 crore before fleeing
Police said she collected nearly ₹2 crore from neighbours through chit schemes and informal loans before fleeing. Based on complaints from victims, a case was registered.
Lavanya was later traced and arrested in Hyderabad. She was produced before a magistrate and shifted to Chanchalguda jail.
